Imo NURTW Holds End Of Month Meeting, As Chair Harps On Good Conduct.

By Onyinyechi Nwankwo.
As a great crusader of the good works of Governor Hope Uzodinma and in a bid to consolidate the marvellous reformation going on in Imo State, the Chairman of National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Imo State Council, Hon. Samuel Udeh,  (Ezeumuokorobia), has counseled his members to be of good behaviour in the discharge of their duty as  drivers in the state.
The Chairman gave the counsel during the union’s end of the month meeting held on Thursday at the Union’s State Secretariat in Owerri.
Udeh harped on the need for the drivers to shun creation of illegal Motor parks also known as terminals, informing them that the state government is fully out to repel such situation in the state and would arrest any driver caught loading and offloading, indiscriminately outside the designated terminals or bus stops.
He urged members to support the transformational wave going on in the state and avoid being used to tarnish the good image of the union before the governor.
The chairmaan warned that anyone caught going against the rules binding on them as it affects driving, would have himself or herself to blame, because he won’t plead for his pardon or release.
” I’m  pleading with all of us to abide by the rules and shun illegal Motor parks. Endeavour  that you don’t litter the roads with vehicles during loading which causes traffic jams. Load inside the Parks to avoid being punished for, if after this counsels you still rebel and got caught you’ll bear it alone. We promise to protect you all but not when you err, when you falter I will not plead on your behalf. We need to be  zealous in joining hands to do what is right  for the success and progress of the Union and state at large.
“From time to time I and my executive will be visiting the terminals to enforce sanity and orderliness. And from henceforth, Union leaders are expected to be properly dressed with the union’s uniform or at least put on green and white outfit .
“Any leader found not properly dressed would receive a serious rebuke from the executive which may as well  attract discipline. Be an exemplary leader, take charge and be a boon to the association” Udeh harped.
Pointing out to them that the new Commissioner given to the Transport Sector, Hon. Chika Benson Abazu, is a fine gentleman, intelligent and a friendly individual with great ideas to better the transport sector, Udeh appealed to fellow unionists to support Abazu’s dreams for to position the state  excellently .
He added that  he is very happy with the Commissioner for his warmest reception of the Union when members of the State Administrative Council,SAC paid him a courtesy  visit.
The Chairman  joyfully disclosed to them that the Commissioner has promised to reform the transport sector and pave way for the state to have a  train station.
He revealed that he is also preparing to introduce the  Compress Natural Gas, CNG  vehicles in the state.
